Acrylic paint on paper Painting Artist Statement: This is my color art piece. My color scheme is complimentary, with my colors being red and green. My meaning for this piece is all good things come to an end. A beautiful rose, will indeed die in time. Things can be amazing and beautiful when they're here, but you need to understand that they will come to an end. So enjoy things while they're here, just enjoy life in general and live in the moment. I painted a light pink background for the base. Then I sketched out my rose with pencil. I do believe this turned out pretty well. I started painting the petals and tried to have contrast in my piece. One side of the rose is dying, to represent my meaning, all good things come to an end. |

Acrylic paint and paste on canvas Painting Artist Statement: This is my texture art piece. My color scheme is complimentry, and I used orange and blue. I incorportated the paste to create some texture in the waves, and the raised surface really added to the way it appeals to the eye. I tried creating depth and shading in my piece with contrast, and I believe it really works together with the sunset. I made it my point to not make everything smooth and bright and perfect. The grungy-ness to the sunset really pulls it together. To make this piece, I sketched out where my sun, water, beach and boat would be. I started with my sunset and just really kept going with my paint to make everything worked. I love the way it pulls together. |

Watercolor on watercolor paper Painting Artist Statement: This is my watercolor art piece. My color scheme is analogous, with blue green, blue, and a purple blue. I thought that all shades of blue would work well for this piece, really bringing in the galaxy look. First I sketched out my circle, then I started with my galaxy background. I used the wet on wet technique, and it worked really well. While the paint was wet I sprinkled salt, which I love the way it created texture in my piece. I then shaded the mountains and moon, and used rubbing alcohol to create some craters in my piece. I started adding paint and water on the bottom and lifted my board up to let the paint drip, using the gravity technique. I also used the glaze technique across the paint at the bottom of the mountains. I couldn't be too picky with this piece, and I love the way it ended up working out. |

Acrylic paint on paper Painting Artist Statement: This is my final project. We could pick what we wanted to create, while still challenging ourselves. I decided that I needed some work with realistic art, especially hair. So I decided to create a painting of the back of a girl's head. But that's not all it is. I wanted to create a peaceful sort of atmosphere. The rough blue background I think really creates a sort of serenity. From the picture you can tell she is a free-going kind of girl, with the flowers in her hair and a loose bun. I really had fun creating the hair streaks. I also haven't had much experience with skin tones, but I love the way it turned out. I really want people to find a sense of calmness when they look at this. With my color scheme, it's kind of what I tried to do. My color scheme was triadic, red blue and yellow. |
